Yoga Meditation - Contemplate Contemplation
As we all know, five elements make up our body. Equilibrium
between these five elements gives rise to a healthy body and
peaceful mind. In simple terms, our mind body and soul have
to synchronize with each other. Proper control on our mind gives
rise to a calm soul, which in turn is responsible for our good
physical health. Yoga is the simplest and most sought after
method to help attain this objective.
Listen To Your Heart
Yoga is a beneficial practice for all. However, it offers an added
advantage for those suffering from an imbalance between the mind,
body and soul. Such people will find additional benefits from
practicing yoga. It is very easy for you to detect whether you are
facing any such problem.
If you feel that your body does not carry out daily chores in
accordance with your mind, and your mind remains in a constant state
of restlessness, then you can be certain about the prevailing
discord within your body. When faced with such a situation, you
should try practicing yoga for attaining perfect balance.
Get to Know Yourself
Many people believe that yoga is a set of strange postures
and they are not convinced about its miraculous curative powers.
Most people lack an understanding of different types of Yoga, and
its impact on our bodies.
Once you are convinced about the logic behind each kind of Yoga
and you start practicing it, you will automatically feel a sense of
enlightenment within yourself. You will have a feeling that you know
your internal body better. Moreover, when you practice yoga, you are
in a better position to make better judgments regarding your
lifestyle and food habits.
Yoga and Its Various Categories
We can classify Yoga into six main streams. Let's look at each of
them one by one.
The most popular variant of yoga is ‘Hatha Yoga.’ Hatha Yoga
includes practicing a set of challenging asanas or postures. This
form of yoga is useful in increasing the efficiency of all our body
organs as well as purifying our mind.
Next is ‘Jnana Yoga’ or gyan yoga, which when translated in
English, means the yoga of knowledge. This variant of yoga includes
learning the truths pertaining to the universe and human beings as
well as purifying our soul with the help of a better understanding
of the universal truths.
Next is ‘Karma Yoga’, which translates into ‘the yoga of
actions’. This branch of yoga believes in and preaches that whatever
we achieve in life, whether it is happiness or sorrow, health or
disease, prosperity or poverty, it is all a result of our actions.
Our good actions will reap good results for us.
Many of us may be practicing ‘Bhakti yoga’ unconsciously. It
is the yoga of religious zeal and devotion toward God. In Bhakti
Yoga, we invoke our Gods or super power, to instill in us their
pious qualities of goodness and empathy. Bhakti Yoga makes use of
various mantras or enchantments, which are in the form of
small couplets and are repeated a number of times.
‘Kundalini Yoga’ involves getting together our internal
energies by proper positioning of our spine and rhythmic breathing.
‘Raja Yoga’ or meditation is the most sophisticated
form of yoga. Sitting in a fixed posture and pulling your thoughts
away from all worldly things is the best method to exercise control
over your mind.
Age-Old Theory
Yoga has been around for ages. Its existence in the modern world,
despite of its thousands of years old origin, is a proof itself that
it is very effective. This is also a good enough reason for us to
start practicing Yoga.
